School Daze

School Daze is a contemporary musical comedy from the writer-director-star Spike Lee, responsible for 1986’s sleeper hit, She’s Gotta Have It.
Fall football kick-offs, gala coronations, bonfires, parades and parties- the sights, sounds, and bittersweet memories of American college life and the unique traditions called homecoming.
But there’s no more to college life than term papers, fraternities, and football. “Dap” Vaughn Dunlap, played by Larry Fishburne (Garden’s of Stone”, The Cotton Club”) is the voice of conscience at a fictional mission college in the American South.
College is the time to fight for what you believe in, so this homecoming, Dap plans to shake things up at Mission College and awaken students and administration alike to the inequalities found both on and off campus.
School Daze, a story of romance and relationships, rituals and rivalries, also stars Giancarlo Esposito (Taps, The Cotton Club) as Julian, the popular leader of Gamma Phi Gamma fraternity; Tisha Campbell (Little Shop of Horrors) as Julian’s devoted girlfriend, Jane; dancer-actress Kyme as Daps independent ladylove Rachel; Gregg Burge (The Cotton Club, A Chorus Line) as the intellectual Virgil Cloyd; and writer-director, Spike Lee as Half-Pint, who doggedly pursues acceptance into the fraternity.
Also appearing are veteran actors Art Evans (Ruthless People, A Soldiers Story) Joe Seneca (Crossroads, Silverado) and Ossie Davis in a cameo appearance as Mission football coach.
School Daze was written, directed, and starts Spike lee, executive produced by Grace Blake with co-producers Loretha Jones and Monty Ross, and produced by Shelton J. Lee.
